World Championship Snooker 2023 - Sweepstake Rules
Plucky’s World Championship Snooker Sweepstake 2023 will be run based on the performance of the 32 competitors that make up the field.
To facilitate customers, there will be 2 types of sweepstakes, one containing 32 tickets with single players on them, one containing 16 tickets with two players on them.
For the multi-player tickets, the two players contained on each ticket in the 16 ticket sweepstake will be chosen at random by Plucky.
The two players selected on each double entry ticket will be available prior to the draw.
As the final list of 32 players will not be available until quite close to the event, we will assign numbers to each player which will correspond to their place in the draw when that is made. For example, in 2022, Match 1 was Mark Selby vs. Jamie Jones. In this case, Mark Selby would be number 1 and Jamie Jones would be number 2. Following on from this, Match 14 was Shaun Murphy vs. Stephen Maguire. As 13 matches of 2 players have already been declared, Shaun and Stephen would be numbers 27 and 28 respectively.
The randomised process by which we assign a number to a ticket is described in our general Rules of the Game.
The single entrant sweepstake has the choice of being ‘winner takes all’ or 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, however any sweepstakes with multiple entrant tickets will only have a 1st prize.
In all cases, each ticket regardless of the number of players it contains will be either scratched off at random by the customer or will be allocated at random by Plucky where the customer is unable to participate in the ‘draw’ itself.
The winners will be based either on the winner of the World Championship, or on the players that come 1st, 2nd and joint 3rd placed. The 3rd place prize as described below will be split in two between the customers holding the tickets containing the two losing semi-finalists.
In the case of private individual sweepstakes -
1st Place Only Sweepstake - Winner takes all less plucky fees (100% - 9.75% = 90.25%)
1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Sweepstake - 1st shall receive 55% of the ‘net’ pot (full pot less Plucky’s 9.75% fees), 2nd 30% and joint 3rd 7.5%.
In the case of sweepstakes being held in aid of charities or clubs -
1st Place Only Sweepstake - Winner receives 50% of gross pot. Plucky takes 9.5%, HMRC takes 7.5% in Pool Betting Duty (6.04% paid by Club and 1.47% paid by Plucky) and the Club takes 34.21%.
1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Sweepstake - the winners shall receive 50% of the ‘gross’ pot broken down as 27.5%, 15% and 3.75% respectively.
In the case that a player is withdrawn or disqualified prior to or during the event, then that customer will forfeit their stake in its entirety.
The sweepstake result is based on the winner of the event who lifts the trophy following the final. Any subsequent change in the (eg. disqualification) will not affect the sweepstake result.
Winner’s funds will be credited to customer’s accounts within 24 hours of the result being declared.
In the unlikely event of some force majeure preventing the World Snooker Championship 2023 from taking place all entries are voided, and all funds will be credited back to customers’ accounts, less a small deduction to cover Plucky’s transaction costs. This will be a maximum of 5%.
These rules should be read in conjunction with Plucky’s general sweepstake rules and terms and conditions.
